FAQ

Questions about estimating & claims

What homeowners and contractors most often ask us about estimates, consulting, and the claims process.

What is a Xactimate estimate and why does it matter?

+
Xactimate is the estimating platform the insurance industry relies on. A properly written, line-item Xactimate estimate documents the full scope of work with correct quantities and current regional pricing, which makes it defensible during a claim and helps ensure a fair, accurate settlement.

Do you work with homeowners, contractors, or both?

+
Both. We act as a knowledgeable resource for homeowners and contractors alike — many of whom are not fluent in policy language, construction standards, or claim documentation. We help bridge that gap with accurate estimating and professional guidance.

Do you take over or manage the repair project?

+
No. We do not take over or manage repair projects directly. We work alongside homeowners and contractors to assist with estimating, documentation, budgeting, supplements, and consulting support as needed, so you stay in control of the project.

What certifications do you hold?

+
We are Xactimate Level 2 Certified and IICRC Certified in water, fire, smoke, and odor restoration. Combined with 25+ years of experience across the insurance, construction, and estimating industries, that means your estimate is both technically accurate and standards-based.

What is a supplement and when do I need one?

+
A supplement documents additional scope or cost that was missed in the original estimate — often concealed damage, code-required items, or overlooked work discovered once a project is underway. A well-supported supplement helps recover payment for the work the repair actually requires.

What types of losses and projects do you estimate?

+
Residential projects, interior and exterior losses, restoration-related damage (water, fire, smoke, and odor), and small commercial projects — for both retail and insurance-related claims and damages.

What areas do you serve?

+
We are based in Lebanon, Ohio and serve Warren County and the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton areas, including Mason, Springboro, Middletown, and Hamilton.
